This two-axis autopilot combines Altitude Hold and Roll axis.
An economical solution for aircraft owners who need Altitude Hold, but don't want the additional functions of pitch command, vertical speed control or GS coupling.
Fully independent system, requires no interface to existing aircraft gyro or pressure systems; derives all input from solid state absolute pressure transducer and accelerometer.
Compact, remote-mounted pitch computer/amplifier.
System senses out-of-trim conditions and annunciates direction to adjust pitch trim.
Utilizes single, remotely- mounted On/Off switch to engage and disengage

S-Tec's latest autopilot has new algorithims which enable
it to hold altitude more closely while turning; to capture
heading more precisely, even with large heading changes; and
to intercept localizer courses better and more smoothly.
The Fifty Five X now has GPS steering capability (GPSS). This
allows the Fifty Five X to process steering guidance information
from a flight plan in the airplane's GPS receiver and translate
it into smooth course turns—even DME arcs. GPSS could
also steer the airplane through procedure turns and holding
patterns, if and when GPS manufacturers begin including that
data in the output stream.
